Facial masques, unlike moisturizers & serums, provide a shorter, more intense skin experience that delivers performance ingredients in a highly concentrated fashion. The masque that will work best for you depends on your skin type & condition.
Combination skin? Apply the appropriate masque to the specific area(s). For example, use an oil-absorbing masque on the T-Zone & a hydrating masque on the rest of your face.

Cinnamon has properties that bring about better blood circulation that can contribute to healthier skin as well as an even skin tone. Honey helps moisturize as well as heal. Scrub your lips with a mix of half a teaspoon of cinnamon powder and one teaspoon of honey. You can leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes before washing. When applied to dry and discoloured lips, this can be extremely helpful.
Hyperpigmentation or dark spots are one of the most common types of skin discoloration. Dark spots are caused by melanocytes (cells responsible for skin's color) depositing excess pigment into deeper levels of the skin. Fade hyperpigmentation caused by previous breakouts, sun damage, or hormonal fluctuations with topical treatments formulated with brightening ingredients, such as vitamin C, licorice root, and kojic acid. Laser treatments also help diminish discoloration over time.
This a great masque to whip up if your skin is in need of instant replenishment!
Ingredients: 2 tablespoons cocoa powder (softens skin) 1 tablespoon honey (reduces inflammation) 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice (fades dark spots) 2 tablespoons ground coffee (exfoliates) Combine all ingredients in a bowl and immediately apply to cleansed skin. If the mixture is too thick, thin it out with 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil. Leave on for 20 minutes or until it begins to dry. To remove, massage in circular motions with warm water. Apply moisturizer, as well as sunscreen if going outside, to dried skin. |
